National Survey & Engineering Provides Sitework Engineering, Visualization and Surveying for Metropolitan Builders Association’s (MBA) 2007 Parade of Homes Sites
BROOKFIELD, WIS. – National Survey & Engineering, a division of R.A. Smith & Associates, Inc. — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., is providing extensive land surveying, site development engineering, 3D visualization and construction staking services for Broken Hill and Woodland Creek Estates – two premiere single-family subdivisions that will be part of the 2007 Metropolitan Builders Association’s (MBA) Parade of Homes.
National Survey & Engineering’s visualization division is working with 24 different builders to prepare digital renderings for this year’s showcased homes. The photo-realistic, colored renderings will be used to promote the event on the MBA Parade of Homes Web site and will be included in the informational booklet that parade goers will receive.
Broken Hill subdivision sits on an impressive 240-acre site in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. The site includes primary environmental corridor, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and views for miles atop the “hill” for which it was named. National Survey & Engineering provided Siepmann Realty Corp. with land surveying and site development engineering services for this 122-lot conservation subdivision. The expansiveness of the site required National Survey & Engineering to design a grading plan for nearly 100 acres that called for 400,000 c.y. of earth movement to achieve a balanced site, as well as the design of more than three miles of municipal sewer and water. Nearly 150 acres of open space will be permanently preserved, 55 acres of which will be granted to Waukesha County Land Conservancy through a conservation easement.
The project also incorporated sustainable design elements such as restoring portions of open space to native prairie and encouraging homeowners to install rain gardens by providing them with a model garden adjacent to the subdivision clubhouse and do-it-yourself instructions to follow.
Several team members volunteered a portion of their services to the project. National Survey & Engineering donated the time needed to create the grading plan for the rain gardens outside of the clubhouse. In the future, these rain gardens will be used by the Wisconsin DNR as a model to promote low-impact stormwater management.
Woodland Creek Estates is located in the City of Muskego, Wisconsin on roughly 75 acres of land nesting against city parkland and within walking distance to Muskego High School. National Survey & Engineering provided Homes by Towne® with land surveying and site development engineering services for this 76-lot subdivision, including topographic mapping, subdivision platting, design of more than one mile of municipal sewer and water within the subdivision, design of five stormwater ponds, mass grading for 200,000 c.y. to achieve a balanced site, design of county highway improvements and design of a new municipal sanitary lift station located within the development.
