 Low Impact Design was incorporated into this site to eliminate all curbing on the site as granted by a waiver of the township requirement for curbing of parking lots and roads.
The design principle of allowing water to sheet flow from the impervious areas to pervious areas made the case to allow for the waiver and elimination of significant curbing around the approximately 3-acre impervious area.
Storm inlets and piping were reduced in quantity by collecting water in a swale and a shallow depression off the edge of pavement.
The requirements for water quality were reduced by disconnecting impervious areas from direct piping, slowing the water down, and also decreasing the size of the detention required, to further the cost savings for the site development.
